PLAY SYNOPSIS:
This is a story about a very loving family from Detroit who are breaking down emotionally. This is due to financial struggles and all of the negative
values that plague many american families today. The Brown's have three teenage youth who feel extremely sad and pressured over their parents financial stress. Terry, Jordan and Jocelyn are also feeling the negative effects of their often toxic and inappropriate messages in their music and mainstream pop culture. They are beginning to lose hope, confidence and their natural joy. They are being ripped off
of a stress free youth with optimism and innocence. They are looking for real answers to real life challenges. This play was written because these are the every day issues that all families face today, especially our youth. It is not their r fault that the world that they live in has "sold out" in many ways with out modeling more positive structures and behaviors. THE YOUTH DESERVE A BETTER RAP!
RESULTS OF THE PROGRAM EFFORT:
This production has made a positive impact on students and the Metro Detroit community. Latisha Paul, a 15-year-old lead actress states: "I really love being involved with this because a lot of the things that take place in the play are like real life, it's a true-life story that needs to be heard... I think it was a great idea to even have this play created because I really believe it's going to help a lot of people. It's going to help a lot of youth, I know it is."
Director Dana Powser Brewer adds: "There are so many talented and amazing students at Madison High School. I am very proud of all of these kids for the work they have put into this important project. There is so much negativity in our lives right now, and it is refreshing to see all of the positive, life-changing experience everyone is gaining by taking part in this play. It is young adults like these who we can look to for a brighter future. They just need a chance to shine!

What an amazing final show we had tonight. I am so proud of my babies! There were so many bumps in the road, right up to this final night, but the people who made the choice to stick with it just blew me (and the audience) away! Each and every student who took part in this project should feel so proud! I am astounded by the talent, dedication, and strength that came through in so many of my students! I will never forget this experience.

Overall, I think this play came out really well. I thought it was going to be a disaster, but we had a production crew on the set with us helping us get everything ready. We really made a difference in ourselves after this play. I thought I was going to just sit out and be lazy, but guess what? I didn't! I saw my classmates get up and have a good time, so I was like, "What the heck? Me too!"

Hey I just wanted to say that I had a blast working with you and want to thank the people who helped me and others. Hope to see you guys again. Thank You, Nora from CHS
